My Biography

I started dancing at the age of 9yrs. My sister and I wanted to do Jazz and Hip Hop, but mum decided to put us into Ballroom Dancing classes instead. I remember doing Cha Cha in the first lesson, and I loved it straight away.

Soon after, my sister and I got partnered up with brothers. I got the short one, Justin (as you can see in my gallery).

Justin and I danced in competitions together for about 3yrs, then because I was older then him, I moved up to the next age group (Junior).

In Junior I had a hard time finding a long term partner. I ended up going through 2 partners, neither of which seemed to be as motivated as me.

When I went up to the Adult category, I found my next partner Todd.

Todd and I danced together for 5yrs; we did all 3 styles, Latin, Ballroom and New Vogue. After 3yrs years together, we were very well known and we were the highest placed couple over 3styles. Now that is quite a challenge, because at all the major competitions, Todd and I would have to dance round after round in all three styles. It was hard for us because in Adult, a lot of couples choose to do 1 style only.

Todd and I had many achievements including:

  • State Champions in New Vogue
  • Australian Finalists
  • Winners over 3styles
  • Runners up in the Singapore International
  • 18 th IDSF World Latin
  • Champions in most NSW championships.

We were also chosen to be in the first and second year of the "Elite Squad", which are all the top dancers put into a team, for training purposes.

We were also lucky to be on TV, Books and CDs.

Those include:

  • Aristos, The Surprise Chef, Channel 7
  • ABC Strictly Dancing
  • SBS Documentary about Ballet and Ballroom Dancers
  • Front cover of The ABC Strictly Dancing CD
  • ABC Strictly Dancing Book by Angela Gilltrap
  • And I was on the cover of a dancing technique book called Strictly Ballroom by Lyndon Wainwright.

After many years of my mother either making my dresses or buying them, I decided to start making beautiful dresses for myself.

It is something I really love doing, especially when I see the finished product. I still can't believe that with a piece of paper and fabric, I can make a beautiful dress. It still amazes me.

Over the last 6 years, I've been concentrating on my Teaching and I have taught and been teaching some lovely students. I love the feeling of helping people achieve something whilst having fun.

I've also been asked to do another year, of the dancing within the schools program, which is like the Documentary "Mad Hot Ballroom", helping kids to become more comfortable with themselves and to participate in a partner sport.

As you can see, dancing is my life, and I'm not happy unless I am either teaching or competing.

I hope you enjoy my website, and it would be a pleasure to either make you a beautiful outfit, or help you learn how to dance.
